In the grand scheme of things, yes, it is too short to actually make a long-term change. However, it’s a great way to get people across the world together in a united effort to conserve energy. Plus, it gets people talking about the results of Earth Hour and how great it could be if we all could continue to reduce our energy consumption. The results from 2008’s Earth Hour were actually quite amazing, especially in Christchurch, New Zealand, which reported a drop of 13% in electricity demand.
