Good question, Zenaide. The duramax diesel is definitely one of the most efficient engines, but i’m not sure if it is the most efficient. If you go here, you can search for the fuel efficiencies of new full sized trucks, and the ones up on top of the list are the hybrids, getting 21-22 mpg. The duramax, on the other hand, get about 17-21. The difference though, is that the hybrids are on 1500 models, and the duramax is on 2500, and 3500 models. Since there is likely to be a weight difference between these trucks, with the greater numbers being heavier, the fuel efficiencies may just be the same.
Hope this helps!
