Yes it is. Statistically, there are more deaths while driving then riding a train or flying.
Yes driving is considered the most dangerous ways to travel, mostly because it has the most variables for human error. Some people are better drivers than others, in the sense that you can have many drivers out there who can be one of the following: reckless, distracted, tired, drunk, blinded (by blind spots), neglectful, etc. Also, the typical driver does not take the numerous safety precautions that say ships, planes, and trains do, mostly because of the high speeds that they travel at. For the last two decades, car deaths have hovered between 40,000 and 44,000 per year, and bout half of these are due to drunk driving.
