Are dolphins birds or mammals? Dolphins are mammals. Mammals contain milk-producing glands known as mammary glands, have hair or fur, have a four-chambered heart, and are warm-blooded. Dolphins contain all of these characteristics, even hair in the early stages of their life.
I think you mean to ask if dolphins are fish or mammals. However, the answer would still be mammal. Fish can breath underwater whereas dolphins breathe through their blowholes outside of water. Furthermore, dolphins are warm-flooded, have fur, and give live birth- all traits that separate them from fish.
