I would think that animal rights activists would look down on it more compared to environmentalists. There are issues of people killing unwanted greyhounds for a small price and breeding these dogs just for racing. Read the link for more information.
I believe that dog racing is not as much of an environmental issue as it is an animal rights issue. I don’t think the tracks are particularly unfriendly, and they are mostly outdoors so they do not require as much energy as somthing like a basketball game.
Environmentalists might be concerned with land used for such a hideous purpose.
