Hello, I’m having a little trouble answering your question. Do you mean can you clean sedimentary rocks using water? Or perhaps, do sedimentary rocks clean water?
The effect water has on rock is not so much as a cleaning agent as it is a forming and translocation agent. In other words:
“Water makes its way into the cracks and fissures of rock at the Earth’s surface, freezes, and expands under cold temperatures. This results in the breakdown of the rock and increased surface area which makes it vulnerable to chemical weathering from water. These rock pieces are broken down into various sizes before being deposited in new locations by wind, water and glaciers.”
For much more information on types and characteristics of sedimentary rock (including cleaning and restoration) see full article:http://www.ethosmarblecare.co.uk/petrology-technical/sedimentary-rock.shtml
