Research shows gains in horsepower with E85 but reductions in gas mileage (E85 has less combustible energy).  In fact, it has a fuel economy of 20% less.  The Ford FFV, for example, has a reported 5% increase in horsepower with E85 – whether this compensates for the reduction in fuel economy is questionable.
