Does the U.S. still allow commercial logging in National Forests?

The federal government actually runs the logging done in National Forests, but it’s an extremely bad business for the US. The federal government actually loses over a billion dollars a year in National Forest logging. National Forest logging only generates about 3% of the nation’s timber, but it takes away from local businesses, private logging companies, and away from the forest itself. Ironically enough, forest preservation creates more money and jobs than the National Forest logging done by the federal government. There’s a lot more information in the links below than I can fit in this box, so I strongly encourage you to read the articles.
