In the United States, Coal power provides 57% of the electricity for businesses and homeowners. Coal is also the cheapest form of energy used to create electricity. There is no source that could immediately step in and take over for coal power. Many other options are available for producing energy from renewable sources these sources, however, are more costly than coal power.

There is no plan to get rid of coal power in the United States. the only way the United States will get rid of coal power is if we can find a cheaper way to produce power or if government grants or tax incentives make it cheaper to produce electricity from other means.
