Does the U.S. have anything similar to England’s Household Waste Recycling Act?

    Though our society is slowly becoming more aware of the responsibility we have towards the environment, we are a little behind the game.  The closest thing I could find to the act you are referring to is the Solid Waste Disposal and Recovery Act.  This Act was made in 1976 ( a while ago) and refers to the disposal of waste by companies, not homes.  Some cities, however, have made this available.  If you live in the Midwest, as I do, this isnt something that has happened for us yet.
