    Yes it does. According to, 43% of water-related deaths are due to diarrhea, and 88% of cases of diarrhea worldwide are attributable to unsafe water, inadequate sanitation or insufficient hygiene. According to this article,, some possible diseases you can get from unsafe drinking water are: viral hepatitis (A&E), gastroenteritis, typhoid and paratyphoid fever, cholera, dysentery, E-coli diarrhoea, giardiasis and intestinal worms, malaria, dengue fever, poliomyelitis and rotavirus diarrhoea in infants.

    Yes it can. Not to be offensive, but I have always heard the phrase, “when you visit Mexico, don’t drink the water.” This is stated because Mexico has had a reputation of having poor water quality with high levels of bacteria. One of the main side effects from drinking the water is diarrhea.
