does taking the energy from the wind affect the cycles of the earth or anything?

By all accounts, no. Windmills merely harness naturally occurring wind and convert it to electricity. They do this without “depleting” the wind or blocking it in a meaningful way. The wind blows on more or less the same as it was when it hit the windmill.
