South Africa does have a renewable energy infrastructure and the government is committed to having 42% of the country’s power come from renewable sources by 2030.  By 2013, 10,000 GWh (Gigawatt hours) are to be produced renewably, up from 70 GWh in 2004, based on a plan unveiled in 2010.
