South Africa’s air pollution is almost certainly not as bad as that of China’s, but it does have some issues, for instance like China much of its economy is based around mining, which puts all sorts of dust, smoke, and the like into the air. There’s also concerns around poorer people who heat their houses and cook with materials such as wood, coal and paraffin, becuase they can’t afford anything else. This causes a lot of non-point source pollution to the general atmosphere, as well as plenty of air pollution in the individual homes, especially since many of these houses are very poorly ventilated.
