Does the soil need to be really wet to grow mushrooms?

Mushrooms do indeed require an environment of high humidity.  In addition to a high level of moisture, mushrooms need a food source to grow from that is uncontaminated, and they can only grow in temperatures between 60F and 80F.  Mushroom-growing kits are available for people who desire to grow mushrooms in their home.  These kits most commonly grow button mushrooms, portabellas, shitake and oyster mushrooms.  Mushrooms can also be grown naturally on logs or wood chips.
