Does snowmobiling pollute the snow?

Does it in turn pollute rivers and lakes because of runoff?

Snowmobiles don’t typically pollute snow, but they sure cause a good deal of air pollution. The emissions from snowmobiles has caused some parts of Yellowstone Park to have air quality that is on par with downtown Los Angeles. The two-stroke engine on a snowmobile emits about 1/3 of the fuel-oil mixture into the air, unburned. Not only is this inefficient, but it’s very unhealthy to breathe. Cold air temperatures and low winds compound the detrimental impact made by snowmobiles on air quality.
