Does smog cause asthma?

It is still unclear whether or not smog actually causes asthma.  It certainly exacerbates asthma in patients who already have it, but there haven’t been any scientific links to causing asthma.  Many people suffer from the symptoms when they are exposed to heavy pollution and smog, but the scientists who believe that it can actually cause a person who didn’t previously have asthma to develop it haven’t been able to prove it.
