Does San Diego have a water shortage problem?

Yes, for the last two years San Diego has been in the middle of a severe water supply crisis. The Colorado River Basin has been experiencing on-going drought and Northern California has had reduced snow pack and run off during the winter that feed the Southern water supply. The State Water Project has also been limiting the amount of water allotted to the San Diego region, making farming and irrigation difficult. Since June 1, 2009, San Diego has been in a declared Level 2 Drought Alert.
