Does the process of making biodiesel make any harmful byproducts?

Nope. Making biodiesel produces only glycerol as a byproduct. Glycerol is a combination of glycerin, alcohol and catalyst. The alcohol evaporates naturally and the catalyst filtered out, leaving only glycerin, which is the primary component of soap.
