Does poaching threaten alligators and crocodiles?

Yes, poaching (for their skins) and human development (resulting in a loss of habitat) are the two biggest threats to crocodiles today. The American Alligator no longer faces poachers in the U.S., but worldwide they are still poached for their hides. Otherwise the greatest threat to alligators is, again, human development which reduces habitat, in addition to polluted waters which has created low birth rates and deformed births.
