Does pig farming lead to water pollution?

It can if waste products are not properly managed. There have been plenty of cases of water pollution due to big livestock farms that not only included pigs, but cows and chickens as well.  This is because big and open air-waste lagoons are prone to leaks. For example, in 1995  an eight acre hog waste lagoon burst in North Carolina and spilled 25 million gallons of manure into the New River.
