Does paper recycling use a lot of water?

There is a large amount of water used in paper recycling. It is needed for the cleaning and deinking process of the paper to be recycled. However, an even larger amount of water is needed in the production of paper from virgin sources. For every ton of paper recycled, roughly 30,000 liters of water are saved.
