Overfarming affects everybody, because it has a negative result on the land where food is grown for general consumption. The problem is primarily derived from chemical fertilizers; as they are utilized in the soil planting cycle after planting cycle, the nitrogen and other valuable nutrients are depleted. After a few years, the land is virtually useless for agricultural purposes, and becomes a dry, unfertile wasteland. It is estimated that each year, an area of land the size of Texas is lost worldwide to overfarming.
