Does our desire for renewable energy sources cause deforestation, if so how??

our desire for renewable energy sources could potentially cause deforestation.  Im not sure if it does, but here it how it could:

trees blocking sunlight could get removed to make way for solar farm.  But most solar farms would be constructed in desert areas, so deforestation would come from homes that want more sun.

Not really.  Renewable energy sources make up a much smaller percentage of the energy market than fossil fuels, so that already puts them behind conventional sources of energy when it comes to deforestation just in terms of square mileage covered.  Also, renewables at present mostly consist of wind farms, solar panels, and hydro-electric plants.  All of which normally do not require the clear-cutting of trees in order to make way for development.
