Oregon has been estimated to have an installed capacity of 27,000 megawatts of onshore wind power, mostly in the Columbia River Gorge and Eastern Oregon. The Oregon Legislature has also passed laws to make it easier for inidividuals and businesses to install their own personal wind turbines, including passing a net metering law in 1999. Now, Oregon ranks in the top 10 states for most wind power installed. Wind power accounts for about 7% of all power generated in Oregon
