Obama has budgeted in $15 billion dollars annually for climate change. The congress has the final say on whether this amount stays this large though. The money is allocated for everything from creating carbon permits and caps to investing in green technology development. So this money is to slow down the causes of climate change and cope with the changes from it.
Obama has also directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reconsider a petition by California to set more stringent limits for greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles than those set up by the federal government. Alongside the proposed $15 billion dollar annual budget in the fight against climate change, the document also asks Congress to approve an additional $19 million for the EPA to measure how much climate – related pollution industries are releasing. The budget document hopes to have an 83% reduction in global warming emissions by mid-century.
