Does mining uranium for nuclear plants cause less damage than mining for coal?

    Yes.  Coal mining is much more extensive and straining on the environment.  Uranium mining, although done through open pit, exists in only a few regions to the specificity of rare uranium.  Coal on the other hand can be extracted through many processes, including mountain-top removal and open-pit mining.
