Does a microwave use more energy than a refrigerator?

A microwave uses more energy than a refrigerator while in use. A microwave uses 1,500 wattage and a refrigerator/freezer uses about 400 wattage. However, since a refrigerator is constantly in use and a microwave is only occasionally used, a refrigerator uses more over time.
