Yes, there are a few. McDonald’s opened its first “eco-friendly” location in Cary, North Carolina on July 14, 2009. The building was constructed with green materials and with sustainable building practices. In addition the restaurant provides a ChargePoint station for patrons with plug-in electric cars to be able to charge their vehicles, presumably while their owners wolf down Big Macs and quaff vanilla shakes. McDonald’s has also been trying to open eco-friendly restaurants in other parts of the world such as Costa Rica.
