In theory, the manufacture of an all-electric vehicle should be easier than a vehicle using an internal combustion engine. However, it may currently be taking longer for a few reasons, one of which is the “newness” of the technology.
Automakers have had plenty of experience manufacturing cars with gasoline-based engines, and they have experienced plenty of disasters, hopefully learning from them. The manufacture of all-electric vehicles is relatively new, so caution needs to be taken in the process. Additionally, there is still a lot of research and development going into the various technologies involved, increasing efficiencies, etc. For these reasons, it may be taking longer for all-electric vehicle development at this time. However, once these processes are proven and have been in use for a while, the overall time should decrease.
