Artificial snow is not dangerous to mountains even though it cannot be consumed by people. It isn’t dangerous because the machines that make this snow have an additive that actually induces real snow to be formed. It does this by “using a protein taken from the cellular wall of the pseudomonas syringae bacterium,” which raises the temperature that water crystallizes by a few degrees. The benefits of this snow are reported to prevent El Nino effects because it is less resistant to melting.
