Electricity in and of itself does little to impact the environment. Its more a matter of how the electricity is generated, how it is stored, and how much we use. Electricity generated from coal, for example, is extremely destructive from the mining of the coal to the pollution emitted from a power plant. Even production of electiricty from renewable source such as hyrdo–if appraoched at large scales can signficantly impact and alter local ecologies, habitat, and human settlements. I would suggest that consumption of resources in general and the associated energy inensive lifestyle is quite impactful–whether its coal for electiricty, the bottle of coke consumed for lunch or commuting to work.
