Does less of the U.S. population smoke cigarettes now because of the recession?

    Yes and No. Many people smoke cigarettes as a way to relieve stress, thus in thes tough economic times, many people have turned to cigarettes and substance abuse to get through. Also, the marketing tactics of the cigarette companies are aggressive and far reaching-tuning into children and minorities. However, on the other hand, cigarettes are expensive due to increased taxation by several states. Thus, money, if not health, has been a huge reason why so many people are motivated to quit smoking.
