Does a laptop battery die faster if you have USB devices, such as an external hard drive pulled into it?

Yes, with USB devices, particularly external hard drives, you will be pulling more power from your batter (assumed you are not plugged in to the wall).  Running more programs, keeping your screen at full brightness, having your wireless internet activated and using plugged in devices will all pull more power from your battery.

Yes it does. I have an external hard drive and when I plug it into my mac, the battery dies quicker than if its not plugged in.
