Japan does not kill more whales then all the other countries combined. In Oct. 2009 26 countries issued a joint statement placing diplomatic pressure on Iceland to abandon whaling. It has been reported that Icelandic whalers have killed over 200 whales since June 2009, of those 200 are 125 endangered fin whales and 79 smaller, more abundant mike whales; making Iceland by far the greatest killer of whales. Iceland had increased the number of whales a hunter/whaler can hunt in a five year period to 150 fin whales and 100 minke whales, then in 2009 to increase their catch allocation increased the numbers to 200 fin whales and 200 minke whales, despite the warnings ot conservationalist and other countries.
