Does it take a long time to heat the water with solar water heaters?

It depends on the type of sun the heater is receiving.  Less sun or indirect sunlight will take longer to heat the water in the solar heater, but direct sunlight on a clear day will heat the water within a much shorter time.  A more conventional gas or electric water heater is usually recommended with solar heater systems, for hot water use on cloudy days, at high-volume times, and at night.
