Good question, Carly. I tried to find numbers, but it is difficult to find average snowfalls for such a wide and specific range (i.e. an entire mountain range), so, we will have to do with some pictures!
First, lets see where the Appalachians are:
Now the Rockies:
And then, a visual diagram of the annual mean snowfall for the US:
Although a small northern portion of the Appalachians do fall under the greater than 72 category, as we see in white, it would appear as though much more of the Rockies are covered by the white, therefore, I think it is safe to say that the Rockies get more snow.
