Does it disrupt river beds when people harvest river rock for decoration?

Taking too many rocks will disturb the ecosystem present in a river. The algae growing on rocks provides food for some river animals, and provides habitat. Some fish and crabs hide among the rocks and will have no protection from predators if they are all gone. Some animals also lay eggs and raise young among the rocks, so they would be impacted as well.
