Good question, Jenie. Israel does use a lot of solar power and is actually a big name in solar power technologies. They have several solar power stations, as well as solar power education and research facilities. Over 90 percent of homes in Israel use solar powered water heaters, as pictured below:

At present Israel generates 6.5 GW of electricity, which is around 1 KW per capita. But that isn’t nearly enough to power the country, as it uses around 22 times the energy of their total energy output (872.3 trillion BTU consumed, 40.3 trillion BTU produced).
