Does the HVAC industry pollute a lot?

    Figures from the Environmental Protection Agency have shown that the air inside a home or office can be five times more polluted than outside air, on the average.  A study was performed at the Technical University of Berlin to determine the levels of emissions caused by common HVAC systems.  The presence of mold can cause health risks, and moisture from leaks in HVAC systems can be a source of mold.  Illness from the presence of mold due to malfunctioning HVAC systems is frequently subject to lawsuits – a case in 2002 occurred in a Pennsylvania hospital:
