In general, the high sugar content of both honey and syrup makes its shelf life indefinite. Because of the high sugar, it is anti-bacterial and never goes bad.
Both honey and syrup, if packaged and stored correctly, can have very long but hard to define shelf life. Because both honey and syrup come straight from nature, they can be temperature-dependent in terms of how long they can last with out being used. In terms of honey, it can crystalize if not eaten, but it’s still fine to eat in that particular form. It’s suggested to stay at its highest quality for about 2 years while in storage. Because honey can be consumed in many different forms, I wouldn’t definitively say that it lasts longer, but if in the correct conditions, there’s a possibility that it could last longer.
