Forever is a strong word, hard to calculate. But honey will last many lifetimes, jars of honey have seen the rise and fall of empires. Bacteria and other microorganisms have a very hard time growing in honey because of the acidity (pH of 3.2-4.5) and low water content of the substance. 2000 year old jars of honey were found in Egyptian tombs and they still tasted delectable!
As of yet, I have not found honey that has spoiled. All of my research indicated the effects of age can be diminished if you simply place the jar of honey in a pan of warm water.
