Does heat play a role in the water cycle?

Heat plays a twofold role in the water cycle.  Firstly, heat helps drive evaporation, which leads to more moisture in the air, which leads to rain, etc.  Secondly, warm air helps to trigger storms, especially thunder storms, which play a role in water-replenishment and transpiration.
