Does gum on the ground contaminate water?

As you mentioned, most chewing gum is disposed of in trash cans, under desks, on the pavement, etc. Not that much get’s in the water, so hasn’t really been implicated in water pollution. However, if gum isn’t disposed of properly, it can harm wildlife, and this includes aquatic wildlife, if it gets in the water.
