According to Greenpeace Canada they do not have a problem with hunting of marine life for subsistence and cultural rituals by their “First Nations”.  However, according to a 1999 interview with an Inuit chief they were fearing a war with green peace over their whaling practices, and had had previous fights about their seal hunting traditions.
