Does greed take over decisions even if we know it isn’t good for the environment?

I would argue that it does. Self-interest tends to be human nature, and immediate gratification often overrides considerations for actual consequences. All the same, I’m definitely somewhere on the Hobbesian end of the philosophical spectrum, so maybe it’s best to take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I would debate that the health of the environment is overlooked if the result will be profitable. Our current civilization is focused on success and wealth. Having a concern about the environment is usually not a priority when money is involved.
