Does grass in lakes make the water more clear?

In order for underwater grasses to survive, the water must be very clear so that enough sunlight can penetrate through the water and give the grasses enough light to carry out photosythesis. Once they have grown, they trap particles, sediment, and minerals and the water that would otherwise float around in the water, making the water appear clearer and cleaner.
