Does the government offer any incentives for charging electric cars?

    Yes, the U.S. Federal government offers consumer tax incentives allowed possible via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  Individuals that have ownership of electric vehicles are entitled to a minimum of $2,500 and a maximum of $7500 depending on the battery capacity of the vehicle.  Gas-electric vehicles also qualify for tax credits.  As for the actual charging of electirc vehicles, if you install a charging device within the home, you can receive a tax credit of $2,000 via form 8911.  The individual will only be allowed tax credit for installation and not for the utilities that they pay.
