Does the government give grants to companies that are building fuel efficient trucks and cars?

It certainly does: the Department of Energy recognizes companies that work to keep the automobile and truck industry part of America’s growth by working on more sustainable vehicles. On Monday the 11th, a company called Cummins got 54 million dollars from them to work on more fuel efficient engines on both passenger cars and heavy-duty vehicles. This was part of 187 million out of the stimulus package that the government recently gave to nine companies, both to push for cleaner fuels and to give jobs to areas that desperately need them.
