Does clothing get faded because of the lights in your house?

Sunlight and flourescent lighting will give of the UV rays that are the biggest cause of clothes being faded by light. If the lights give off heat, that will cause up to 25% of fading, and visible light is responsible for another 25%. So yes, clothes exposed to light will, over time, become more faded than those kept in the dark. Sometimes you can see this in stores with flourescent lighting: the clothes on the top of a stack will be lighter than those at the bottom. Lights will also fade carpets and other fabrics, paintings and photographs.
